Athanasios Bozinis is Associate Fellow at SAIS Europe
Assistant Professor, Global Political Economy and New Technologies – Biosecurity, Department of International and European Studies, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Athanasios (Akis) Bozinis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of International and European Studies, at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki - Greece. His research focuses on European Union Policies for New Technologies and Hybrid Threats. He is also researching the consequences of New Technologies in the Global Political Economy. In particular, Professor Bozinis studies the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Artificial Intelligences - Robotics and Biotechnology as state's powerful tools in order to achieve political and economic power in the global competitive arena.

Professor Bozinis holds a BSc in International European Economic and Political Studies from the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, with a specialization in Political Studies and Diplomacy. He pursued postgraduate studies at the Athens University Medical School, Athens - Greece, where he earned the MSc degree in International Medicine and Health Crises Management, with a specialization in Disaster Medicine. He has a PhD from the Department of Applied Informatics, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, with a specialization in ICT effects in International Economic and Political Relations. In 2018, he was a Visiting Research Scholar at the Center for Technology and Global Affairs, Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), University of Oxford (UK).

Professor Bozinis is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece, the Greek Computer Society - Macedonia & Thrace Chapter and a member of the Society of Macedonian Studies - Thessaloniki, Greece.
