Lisa A. Tucker is an Associate Professor of Law at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she has been a member of the faculty since 2007.

Her scholarship focuses on the "underdogs" in family law, or those family members whose interests are underrecognized, undervalued, and underrepresented. Professor Tucker is also an expert on the United States Supreme Court and has published numerous articles in scholarly journals and the mainstream media about the Court as an institution. Her work has been published in the Duke Law Journal, the Washington University Law Review, the North Carolina Law Review, the Indiana Law Journal, the BYU Law Review, the University of Chicago Law Review Online, the Georgetown Law Journal Online, and many more.

Professor Tucker is the editor of Hamilton and the Law: Reading Today's Most Contentious Legal Issues through the Hit Musical, a book that was lauded by the Washington Post ("engaging and impressive . . . the book's 33 essays take Hamilton (the man and the musical) to a new level, at once imaginative and informative") and the Los Angeles Review of Books ("brimming with insight and originality . . .full of thought-provoking essays . . .marvelous . . .smart and original. The 33 essays . . . help us better understand and more deeply appreciate the complexity and sophistication of this historical hip-hop musical.").

In 2021, Professor Tucker was elected to membership in the American Law Institute. From 2009-2011, Professor Tucker wrote the Plain English column on SCOTUSblog, and she still contributes to the blog from time to time. She is the author of numerous books for children about Supreme Court justices and prominent elected officials, as well as the 2015 novel Called On. Professor Tucker has appeared on the "Today Show," CNN, the "Satellite Sisters," NPR and many other radio and television outlets. She and her books have been featured and reviewed in The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, Legal Times, People, Time, Parents and "NBC Nightly News," among other newspapers, magazines and programs across the country.

After earning her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, she practiced with the Boston law firms of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault and Gadsby & Hannah, LLP. She previously was a professor of legal writing at Roger Williams University Law School and served as dean of skills training at Southern New England School of Law (now the University of Massachusetts School of Law). She has served on the Legal Writing Institute Board of Directors and Association of Legal Writing Directors Board of Directors.
