Ambassador David B. Shear will discuss what a senior-level political appointee in a new Democratic administration will have to do to restore the U.S. position in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador David B. Shear is the former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asia-Pacific Security Affairs and former U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam. Over a thirty four year career in American diplomacy, he served in Washington, Beijing, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Hanoi. He was an adjunct professor at SAIS 2019-2026
