Antonia Maioni is Professor of political science and public policy at the Institute for Health and Social Policy in the School of Population and Global Health at McGill University, and an Associate Member in the Department of Political Science and the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill. Professor Maioni previously served as McGill’s Dean of Arts (2016-2021), as Associate Vice-Principal for Research and International Relations (2014-16) and as Director of the interdisciplinary McGill Institute for the Study of Canada (2001-2011).
Her research focusses on public policy, health and social policy, Canadian and comparative politics, and has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Canada-US Fulbright Foundation, the Max Bell Foundation, and Universities Canada.
Professor Maioni previously served as President of the Canadian Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences, as a member of the Board of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, as well as in numerous other academic and volunteer organizations related to education and research. She has had extensive media experience as a frequent commentator on politics and public policy issues.
Professor Maioni holds a BA from Université Laval, an MA from Carleton University's Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, and a PhD from Northwestern University.
