Aylin Güney is Associate Fellow at SAIS Europe

Professor Aylin Güney is currently the Vice Rector of Yasar University, Izmir, Turkey and has been the founding Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the same university since 2016. She was the Head of the Department of International Relations (2010-2014), and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (2014-2016). She worked at Bilkent University, Department of Political Science between 1999-2010 as Instructor and Assistant Professor.
Professor Güney obtained her PhD from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Bilkent University in 1998. She has her M.A from Johns Hopkins University, Department of Political Science (1994) and a One-Year Diploma from Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna, Italy (1992). She holds a BA degree in International Relations from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey (1991).
Professor Güney had been the holder of two Jean Monnet Chairs (2007-2010) and (2011-2014) respectively at Bilkent and Yasar Universities. She has been awarded the Young Scientist Award in 2006 by the Turkish Academy of Sciences. She was a visiting scholar at University of California, Berkeley, USA in 2015.
Prof. Güney's academic studies are on the European Union, Turkish Political History, Turkish-American Relations, and she has given many lectures on various dimensions of these issues. In addition, there are many national and international articles and book chapters published on the same subjects. Prof. Güney's most recent publications are co-edited volumes titled
Europeanization of Turkey: Politics and Policies and
Europeanization of Turkish Public Policies, by Routledge in 2015 and 2016.
