China Applies to Join CPTPP (in Chinese)
September 19, 2021

Michael G. Plummer
Eni Professor of International Economics
News Description
A 2019 study by SAIS Bologna Director Michael Plummer and Peter Petri was referenced in this article from the Chinese-Canadian Voice about China's announcement that it applied to join the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement) on September 16, a day after a major United States-United Kingdom-Australian agreement was announced. Plummer's research is used in this article as a reference for the economic impact CPTPP non-membership and membership would have on China as the rest of the article explores the likelihood of Chinese admission into the agreement.
