David Ellwood is cited in an article published by Capital Ethiopia Newspaper with regards to vaccine diplomacy as a geopolitical and soft power competition. According to Ellwood, the United Arab Emirates has sent approximately 100 million food packages to families in countries like Sudan, Uganda, Angola, and Egypt for the sake of increasing its regional influence in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
