Professor of Justice Studies, School of Justice, Liverpool John Moores University

Julia Buxton is Professor of Justice Studies at the School of Justice of the Liverpool John Moores University and previously British Academy Global Professor (University of Manchester) and Acting Dean in the School of Public Policy at Central European University in Budapest. A Latin Americanist by background and a specialist on Venezuela, her research explores the dynamics of illicit drug market change and national government responses globally. Most recent publications include the public engagement book What is Drug Policy For? (Bristol University Press) and "Conflict and illicit drug markets in Ukraine" European Journal of Criminology with colleagues from the Kharkiv forensics institute.
