Stephen Gundle
Professor of Film and Television Studies, University of Warwick, U.K.

Stephen Gundle is professor of film and television studies at the University of Warwick. He has written widely on modern Italian cultural history and the mass media. His most recent books are Bellissima: Feminine Beauty and the Idea of Italy (Yale University Press 2007), Mass Culture and Italian Society from Fascism to the Cold War (Indiana University Press 2008, with David Forgacs), Glamour: A History (Oxford University Press 2008) and Death and the Dolce Vita: The Dark Side of Rome in the 1950s (Canongate, 2011). He has recently directed an Arts and Humanities Research Council project on ‘The Cult of the Duce: Mussolini and the Italians 1918-2005’. The collective book authored by members of the project team will be published by Manchester University Press in 2013.
