Nicola Magrini, MD, has 25 years experience in drug evaluation, clinical trials, evidence synthesis and guideline development. Founder member of the Italian Cochrane Centre (1994), established NHS CeVEAS, Centre for the evaluation of the effectiveness of Health care in Modena, in 2000, member of the BMJ editorial board (2004-2007).

He has been a scientist at WHO Geneva as Secretary of the WHO Essential Medicines List (2014 to 2020). He was Director General of AIFA, the Italian Medicines Agency during Covid-19 pandemic from 2020 till Jan 2023.

Currently, Head of the Unit for Innovation, Evidence synthesis and Clinical research, IRCCS S.Orsola, Bologna and Co-director WHO Collaborating Centre for evidence synthesis and guideline development, Bologna, Italy.
