Giovanna De Maio works as Advisor on US and Transatlantic Relations at the Policy Planning Unit of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Centre d'Analysen de prévision et de stratégie, CAPS), where she deals with strategic foresights and provides policy recommendations on the implications of US domestic and foreign policy on France and Europe.

Prior to joining CAPS, De Maio held fellow positions at George Washington University (2020-2021), the Brookings Institute (2018-2020) in Washington DC, the French Institute of International Affairs in Paris, and the German Marshall Fund of the United States (2017-2018) in DC, where she focused on political and security aspects of transatlantic relations.

De Maio teaches US Foreign Policy at the Paris School of International Affairs (SciencesPo) and is a regular contributor in French media (France24, France InfoTV, Public Sénat).

She holds a PhD in International Studies from the University of Naples L'Orientale and is a member of the alumni network of the Hoover Institution International Seminar (2023 cohort).
